Biodegradable Packing

A more earth friendly form of waste is biodegradable materials

The garbage dumps of the world are overflowing with plastic wrappers that will take centuries to rot away. Biodegradable packing is a possible solution.

In 2000, a group of scientists and engineers invented a plastic made from starch. Starch is produced from corn, wheat and potatoes using existing-plastic making equipment, the plastic can be made into shopping bags, meat trays or hamburger boxes. it can be turned into plant pots or sheets for mulching vegetable crops.

This biodegradable packing is tough and cheap to make. it will rot away in about two months if buried in a garbage dump

biodegradable plastics are a more 'environmentally friendly' material used to produce plastic products
