Heavy movie and video cameras are mounted on a tripod and are fixed to a head a hinge that moves sideways and up and down . in the past tripod heads were clumsy and could make a picture blur or miss its subject. In 1954 Australian Camera man Eric miller perfected a new kind of tripod it used hydraulic brakes inside to control how far and fast the camera could move .The miller fluid head was light easy to use and was perfect for fast television news gathering which had just begun.
