Humespun Pipe
Proved to be a very effective method of producing concrete pipes.

In 1900 farm worker Walter Hume invented a new kind of batten to keep fence wires apart and went into business making them. Painting the battens was difficult, so Hume invented a drum to spin them in, which spread the paint evenly. this gave them another idea
In 1910 Hume began making pipes by spinning concrete in a drum. Spinning spread the concrete evenly and spun out all the water so the concrete was strong dense and water proof. Hume then spun concrete onto a frame of steel mesh , making even stronger pipes. he also made steel pipes with concrete liners. By the 1920s, Hume pipes were being used all over the world.
